On Feb 13, 2026, activists with Jewish Voice for Peace - LA and their allies held a Solidarity Shabbat at sunset outside the Metropolitan Detention Center in Los Angeles, CA.

Religious and grassroots leaders joined progressive organizations and called attention to the direct ties between Israeli military operations and U.S. immigration enforcement, emphasizing the urgent need to end the flow of weapons and technology supporting both systems.

Activists prayed together and listened to speeches before marching down the street to the MDC, where they were met with a large show of force by federal agents from multiple agencies.

"Over 70,000 Palestinians, including at least 20,000 children, have been killed in Israeli attacks. The same corporations profiting from ICE detention centers also supply surveillance and military technology used against Palestinians," the group said in a release. "These struggles are interconnected: resisting ICE locally is part of the global fight against occupation and state violence. Shabbat is traditionally a time of rest, but in moments of crisis, Jewish tradition calls us to bring that sacredness into public action."
